The Bosman ruling and its aftermath allowed soccer players to move more freely between clubs in Europe. This study examines the performance of national and club teams in Europe before and after The European Court of Justice (ECJ) ruled in favour of Bosman on February 15, 1995 and the ruling modified the system of transfer among member states of the European Union. This paper will attempt to look at the advantages and disadvantages of the old transfer system through a legal perspective. The Bosman ruling, as it has since become known, is the consolidation of the results of all three of these cases.
